When was the last time that you remembered to kiss yourself? Yes, kiss yourself.

At times, we forget to take the time to thank ourselves.

When was the last time you thanked yourself for overcoming the pain of a childhood trauma that changed everything about you and how you saw the world?

When was the last time you thanked yourself for failing and having the courage to keep moving forward? Or celebrated yourself for overcoming the business venture that fell through, or that job that did not reap the benefits that you’d hoped and prayed for?

Have you thanked yourself for not running away and hiding? For picking up the pieces and marching forward.

When was the last time that you thanked yourself for overcoming the pain of heartbreak and loss? A pain that ran so deeply, that it could have affected how you forgive or prevented you from choosing to love again.

When was the last time you thanked yourself for having the courage to forgive, even when it seemed impossible to do? Forgiving the impossible can take time, but is necessary in order to carry on. It is freeing. It will release any bondage that has kept you chained to a situation.

When was the last time you thanked yourself for making the impossible, possible? For making a way, when it did not seem like there were any options, but with prayer and faith, you made it through.

As women, we often go through so much, so much turmoil, that we forget to stop and thank ourselves for surviving and pushing through. We must stop to kiss ourselves for surviving and conquering our fears, hopelessness, and rejection.

We must thank ourselves for being our own sheroes and embrace the scars that tell our own testimonies.

By loving and giving thanks to ourselves, we can become better and love those around us harder and stronger. We must acknowledge ourselves and our power, and in turn, raise our daughters to become even stronger.

Remember to kiss yourself today.
