Hello beautifuls! Yes, you sista girl.

You are beautiful, inside and out. Don’t let anyone tell you different.

You see, there was a time when I struggled with my self-image. I wore huge glasses, had thick eyebrows and I was very skinny.

Back then, TLC’s  “Unpretty” was a major hit on my playlist. I was teased a lot and just didn’t fit in with my friends. Eventually, I figured out that I was never meant to fit in but I was called and created to stand out.

What was my greatest struggle has become my greatest asset. I am here to help you learn how to rock your inner beauty.

5 Ways to Rock Your Inner Beauty

1. Confidence is Sexy

You can either be your biggest cheerleader or your worst critic. Belief in self directly affects everything you do. If you have dreams that you desire to pursue, you have to believe that you can achieve them and live in your passion and purpose.

You were created for greatness. Let your mind believe it so you can walk in it.

2. Celebrate Your Uniqueness

No one else on this earth is quite like you. There are no carbon copies of you anywhere.

Science tells us we are unique because of our DNA. The Bible tells us that we are beautifully and wonderfully made by God. Everything about you is unique, from your individuality and personality to your mannerisms and mindset.

It’s time to celebrate it. Girl, let your uniqueness shine like the radiant sun on a beautiful day.

3. Kick the “Patricia-the-Perfectionist” Habit

My goodness, I know about this one all too well.

I wanted to be perfect so badly that I made sure to stay two steps ahead of everything and everyone in my life, just so I wouldn’t make a mistake.

But the truth is: life is messy sometimes. We are going to make mistakes.

When I was a kid, my mom used to tell me, “Don’t mess up” all of the time. I allowed this mindset to shape my thoughts and it became my reality. Of course, I messed up and made plenty of mistakes but when I did, I hated to admit my shortcomings and loathed looking in the mirror.

I wallowed in my weaknesses and became totally conceited; thinking that if I hid them behind my strengths, no one would notice. But they did of course.

The raw truth is that we are humans and we are bound to make mistakes. We can embrace those areas of our lives that are flawed.

Mistakes and mishaps do not define us.  We can only strive to walk in perfection and excellence.

4. Stay out of the Comparison Lane

In a world full of so many people to compare ourselves to, we often get caught up in the attributes, accomplishments and accolades of others. Sometimes, we find ourselves cultivating our identity based on another woman’s size, shape and strengths.

When we compare ourselves to others, we dishonor to God.

We are indirectly saying, “I don’t value who you created me to be.”  Comparison steals our creativity and uniqueness and causes us to look at ourselves in a negative light.

5. Be Unapologetically Intentional about Rocking your Inner Beauty

You gotta be bold about it.

Don’t apologize for your gifts, talents and abilities. You are one of a kind, a raw diamond. Stand in front of the mirror and recite affirmations to help you live in the authenticity of your inner beauty. Learn what the Word of God says about you.

When you begin to fully embrace your beauty, inside and out, you will feel better and see yourself and your life in a new light.

Cheers to celebrating you!
