Yep that is the sound of the alarm in the morning for so many people.

You hop of bed and straight to the reality of the autopilot lifestyle. In reality, we create our reality first thing in the morning.

Tell me, do you awaken to the sound of the alarm and the first thing that plows through your mind is “Ugh here we go?” or “I just don’t want to do this today?” Well guess, what? We reap what we sow.

We have a day that is full of drab. We stub our toe, we’re stuck in traffic on an empty tank. You arrive to work and notice that there is no coffee to make, a co-worker calls out leaving you with extra work and you get a call from the school that your child is sick.

You often say, “I need to change this”. The bad thing is, nothing changes if nothing changes.

Change starts in the mind and in the morning. See, your autopilot routine is causing your crappy day. There is light at the end of the tunnel ladies! You just have to take the morning shift.

The morning shift is the shift of your mindset that starts when the alarm goes off. Here are 3 tips to help you create a more positive morning that leads to a more powerful day.

The Morning Shift: 3 Tips for a Great Start to Your Day

1. Be Grateful

Your first thoughts in the morning should be set on those things you are most grateful for.

Choose at least 3 things every morning and dwell on them while you are still in bed. I like to take a brief second and focus on the sounds I hear. School buses, cars whizzing by, kids laughing, the wind blowing. This makes me grateful for my hearing and the sounds of life itself.

What motivates you to get out of bed? Your children, income, your love for yourself? We all have different yet similar things we are grateful for.

So seek joy in the morning by silently acknowledging what you are grateful for.

2. See You, Love You

Loving yourself is the best thing you can do. When you look in the mirror, what are your thoughts? Have you thought, “Ugh, I need to lose weight”, “My face looks a mess” Or “Yikes! I look a total mess”?

You have to change that my friend.

Be kind to yourself. Say “Hello, Gorgeous”, “It is a beautiful morning”, “I love myself”. Be kind and gentle to yourself because you are the only one who will love you better.

3. Drive and Vibe

What are you listening to in the car? The morning tea on the radio? Maybe a song that defiles women or Radio news that talks about all the crap going on in the world? Well, you need to cut it! The information the world sometimes feeds makes us. It is imperative that we take control of our personal development and growth.

I love to listen to motivational/self-help audiobooks or CDs while driving in the car. They have helped to increase my vibration and attract the things I desire most in life. So find a good audiobook or CD that will set your cells on fire during your morning commute.

The morning shift is by far the best shift of the day. How we start is how we finish.
